Métisse à Nantes :

Métisse à Nantes started out as an organization called ACAGR (Association Culturelle Afrique Guyane et Réunion—Africa, Guyana, and Reunion Island Cultural Organization), which itself was started in 1993 to help manage the Malanga folklore group.

In February 2002, ACAGR took a decisive step in a new direction when it changed its name to Métisse à Nantes. The organization counts 250 members who hail from a range of different cultures and backgrounds. This is in keeping with the realm of the terrain, which brings an increasing number of nationalities together in places devoted to living, education, culture, and leisure.

While, to honor our roots, we hold a special place for the arts and traditions of the Caribbean Islands, Reunion Island, and Africa, Métisse à Nantes is open to anyone looking to explore cultural traditions, ways of life, and artistic expressions of “multicolorful” origins.

Métisse à Nantes has been nurturing the Brotherhood Boat project for more than seven years now. After meandering through the hearts and spirits of our volunteers, the project has taken on significant educational, technical, and financial proportions. It has come of age and is ready to take to the winds on its own, leaving the “mother ship” behind. The Association Bateau Pédagogique® (Brotherhood Boat Organization), made up of a team of professionals in addition to Métisse à Nantes members, now provides a legal framework for the project.
