Putting History Behind Us… and Moving Forward Culturally

What is the Brotherhood Boat project for?

  • Changing mentalities.

In addition to bringing a story of dominance and suffering to life, the Brotherhood Boat project aims to significantly increase activism in the fight against discrimination and modern forms of slavery. These include child labor; prostitution; the sale of men, women, and children; and, more generally, any assault on human dignity.

  • Raising awareness.

As a “living” cultural display for all audiences, regardless of age, cultural background, or social status, the Brotherhood Boat project will allow all the relevant communities to find their place in the ship, which will represent slave-ship crossings as they took place the world over.
  • Taking history to places where books can’t be read.

To make culture and knowledge more attractive, they must be explained and presented in a simple manner. This form of living history makes history and culture more accessible and more understandable, and does so for the widest possible audience. From Europe and the Americas to Africa and Oceania, the Brotherhood Boat will give the descendants of those involved in the slave trade a chance to see their life in a different light.
